Coiled & Twisted: An Introduction to the Knot Gallery
Explore the Collection
Welcome to the Knot Gallery, the digital sanctuary for my fiber-based creations. Here, I weave together tactile artistry and personal narratives to explore the complex textures of human experience. As you navigate the collection, I invite you to click on the artwork to reveal the hidden threads. Each piece is paired with "Yarns About Life"—a series of stories and reflections on leadership and growth that are knotted into the very fibers of the art. I hope these works inspire you to find beauty in the connections we create every day.
After forty years in the hospitality industry, my days were defined by strict brand standards and corporate logic. I spent decades managing logistics and guest experiences, but I always kept a piece of rope or yarn nearby to balance the data. Connecting with fiber art allowed me to weave a bit of soul back into the analytical world. Today, I use those same coiling and knotting techniques to tell stories of leadership and life, turning years of professional structure into creative expression.

The Knot Art Creative Process
Polarity
This core piece illustrates my artistic practice of navigating tension and balance. Through intricate knots, I explore the harmony within opposites to create a warm, unified energy flow. I move between the strength of a frame and the flow of the fibers, mirroring how life requires both a plan and the grace to improvise.
The coiling of vibrant feminine and masculine energy flow.

Transitions in Flight gathers the stories behind this piece—layoffs, relocations, culture clashes, and unexpected chances to begin again—and how each one reshaped my leadership, my work, and my art. Each knot and loop holds a small shift: a choice, a loss, a new beginning. The blogs linked to this artwork invite you to see your own career transitions not as detours, but as the moments that quietly define who you’re becoming.

Octopi
Reaching beyond the Frame
Octopi evolved from two separate works into a single, intertwined narrative of freedom. These fiber-crafted creatures developed organically, eventually breaking past the limits of their gilded frame to explore an ocean of possibilities. It is a tactile narrative of untethering—an exploration of what happens when our creative instincts refuse to be contained, breaking through the gilded edge to expand into the deep unknown.

Yarns About Life - Octopi
Octopi is where my knot art and hotel / consulting life twist together. Using the octopus as a many‑armed metaphor, this series explores how we design training and leadership support to help people reach beyond their "frame". Tools that reach many different kinds of learners—without losing the human, face‑to‑face heart of service. These stories are for anyone who wants service training to feel serious and playful, strategic and deeply human.

Resilience reborn in the coil of time
Reimagined ten years after its initial creation, Succulent is a testament to the beauty of second chances. Where once there were simple knots, there is now a vibrant, sculptural energy, brought to life through intentional coiling and the removal of the old to make room for the new. It stands as a reminder that our own stories are never static; we are always capable of unfolding into a more resilient form. The hand-wrapped cords winding through the modern composition are a tactile celebration of growth and the infinite beauty of evolution within us all.

Honoring the Vibrant Path Behind You
As the forest sheds its amber weight, we find grace in the letting go. The Autumn series mirrors my own growth—a time to honor the vibrant path behind me. This season asks me to loosen my grip—on the loss of my mother’s physical presence, on old roles—and lean into the quiet courage of letting go, one small leaf at a time.
In these yarns, I’m learning to trust what my mother planted in me and to find a quiet, tender beauty in beginning my next season.

Sunsetting - Letting Go
We often treat endings with hesitation, yet the sky reminds us every evening that there is a quiet beauty in the letting go. This work was born from a personal “sunsetting”—stepping out of a long leadership career and into a new, more creative way of being. These fibers are knotted with gratitude, honoring the quiet grace of a career well-lived and the soft surrender required to welcome the stillness of what comes next.
The Sunset Series - This knot art is part of a five‑part story series about my final leadership sunset and the people who shaped it.

Medusa
Be a guardian
Medusa, like the mythical creature, is an act of rebirth. In 2019, she was a face knotted from colorful strands that never quite felt complete. For years she waited in the quiet, unfinished yet insistent. In 2025, the vision finally surfaced and Medusa emerged whole. A wooden frame, decoupaged in the earth‑deep hues representing her cave and the sea. Her hand is reaching forward. She has deep green eyes and a wild crown of serpent‑like hair. The white knotted air around her glows with her radiant power, while a single green serpent winds along the top. Medusa stands as a guardian, a symbol of protection against lurking danger and restless spirits.

Dimensions: 25.5" x 17" x 5"

Yarns About Life - Medusa
Stories of Inner Strength
Medusa is a symbol of strength. She was forced to face punishment for the unwanted acts of two mythical gods. Once feared as a monster, Medusa becomes a guardian—a protector at the threshold, warding off danger and the quiet cruelties we carry. These are stories of my inner Medusa protecting my threshold, being my guardian and guide through difficult times.

COMING SOON - Stories of Infinite Gratitude
Each knot is a thank‑you for the people, moments, and lessons that became my constellations, guiding me forward when I couldn’t see the whole view. In these fibers, I’ve tried to capture that feeling of looking up at the night and realizing how much of our lives are held together by unseen gifts—stardust, grace, and the quiet practice of noticing what we’ve been given and accomplished.
Climbing Rose

Just because you have thorns, doesn't mean you have to use them
Just like the resilient rose that finds its way through the tightest trellis, my art explores the balance between strength and vulnerability. I use interwoven ropes wrapped in soft yarns to mimic the organic climb of nature, anchored by the structure of a vintage curtain rod. Every twist of the fiber is a step toward the light, a narrative of perseverance and the beautiful complexity of reaching for one's dreams.

Tide Pools
A universe revealed by the receding breath of the sea
Inspired by the quiet magic of the shoreline, where hidden worlds are uncovered only when the water retreats. COMING SOON - Stories Honoring the Teams Beneath the Surface
There is a specific magic found in the stillness of a tide pool—a world that waits for the water to leave so it can finally be seen. I have always appreciated the many layered worlds thriving below the surface in the small spaces of hotels, like back of the house kitchens, laundries and housekeeping departments. When the tide rolls out, these are the areas that keep the hotel flowing. It reminds me that even in moments of low tide—these are the people who prepare us for high tide.

COMING SOON - Friendships that Kept Me Afloat
They say if you grip the paddle too tight, you lose the rhythm of the water. Thirty years ago, we were first-time mothers learning to navigate a different kind of rapid.
White Water memories that coil into fiber - the sharp intake of breath before the drop, and the collective surge of joy when you pop back up- paddle in hand after going under and getting drenched. It is an exploration of trust: trusting the boat, the river, and the sisters in the seats beside you. In these knots, I have captured the spray of the falls and the enduring strength of a bond that refuses to be swept away. We are still in the same boat, and the current is beautiful.

The bloom of birth and growth
Seasons: Spring & Summer trace my journey as a mother. Like Mother Earth, I’ve experienced the urgent beauty of new buds pushing out and flowering to their full potential. A homage to my own becoming—through joy, worry, hard‑won patience, fierce protection, and love—and to my child’s emergence into adulthood. Here, the circular pathways of mind, body, spirit, and purpose coil together in the vivid shades of motherhood from both the intertwined and inseparable perspectives of mother and child.

Seasons: Fall & Winter
The leaves have fallen
Seasons: Fall & Winter—when the leaves have fallen and children grow into adulthood and independence. Fall & Winter mark a time of letting go, as mothers and their children face new realities. Purpose is shifting and evolving. The snows are coming: a quiet season to imagine new possibilities and the growth that will rise after the thaw. Greens turn to rust. The landscape of many‑hued possibilities is briefly hidden from view, but the heart knows it is only a season before a new spirit pushes to the surface.
