The Artwork
This piece is a tribute to beautiful Torch Lake in Michigan, known for its clear water and shifting shades of blue.

It began on a July day surrounded by the lake’s tranquility and the soothing sound of water lapping against the shore—a perfect setting to unwind while winding and coiling yarn.
​
That night, at 3:30 a.m., I opened the curtains to find white lightning, wind, and rain transforming the once-calm lake. For forty minutes, a dramatic light show unfolded: flashes of lightning illuminated the sky as wind wrapped itself around the water.

In the artwork, blue yarn-coated wires rise above the knots, representing the wind lifting the rain and lake to its will. The white elements suggest lightning, white water, and wind joined in a single, moving force.
