Climbing Rose
Some use a THORN to wound; others climb past it.
The Artwork
Just like the resilient rose that finds its way through the tightest trellis, my art explores the balance between strength and vulnerability. I use interwoven ropes wrapped in soft yarns to mimic the organic climb of nature, anchored by the structure of a vintage curtain rod. Every twist of the fiber is a step toward the light, a narrative of perseverance and the beautiful complexity of reaching for one's dreams.
Medium: Fiber: yarns, rope, repurposed vintage curtain rod
Dimensions: 34" x 24" x 5"
Year Completed: 2025

Yarns About Life - Climbing Rose
COMING SOON - Stories of Continuing to Climb and Flower Through the Thorns
There is an art to reaching for the sky while living among thorns. True leadership is choosing if and when, thorns are useful in nurturing growth.
Â
These stories honor the courage it takes to keep climbing toward your own light, even when someone else’s thorns try to hold you back—blooming through it, and drawing a line in the trellis when you’ve been pricked for the last time.

On the Yarns About Life Page - select Climbing Rose in the Main Index then start with the story that tugs at you most and follow the yarn.
