Stalactite
Formed One Knot and Coil at a Time
The Artwork
Stalactite was inspired by a journey through New Mexico, including a 1,500-mile drive across the state and a visit to Carlsbad Caverns.
There, I was captivated by the organic beauty formed over centuries—one drop at a time.

The caverns became a metaphor for personal growth. Just as water slowly shapes stone, subtle experiences gradually shape who we become.
Each coil, knot, and vibrant color in Stalactite reflects this steady process of change.

Inspired by New Mexico’s bright landscape, I used bold, energetic colors to celebrate its natural beauty and spirit.Â
Stalactite is a visual yarn: a story of becoming, slowly and beautifully formed one knot and one coil at a time.Â
Medium: Fiber: yarns, rope, wire, fiber battÂ
Dimensions: 25" x 17" x 2"
Year Completed: 2026
